Learning Journey

Program Overview:

This unique blended program is designed to engage motivated rising juniors and seniors, providing them with the tools and knowledge essential for future personal and professional success. Throughout the immersive journey of the Management Academy, students embark on a journey focused on four key goals: developing business acumen, fostering entrepreneurship, honing leadership, and exploring potential career paths.

Through a blend of interactive lectures, engaging activities, and stimulating discussions, students are challenged to expand their cognitive horizons and develop practical competencies. Furthermore, the collaborative learning environment, with its emphasis on peer-learning opportunities and mentorship, ensures that students receive comprehensive support throughout their journey.

Program Format:

  • Modules 1-4 (online): students engage in a mix of lectures, interactive activities, and case studies to explore business fundamentals. The emphasis is on understanding core concepts and acquiring essential skills through a variety of learning methods, including the study of business cases. 

  • Residential Week (on-site):  students delve deeper into entrepreneurship, with workshops, mentorship sessions, and practical exercises aimed at developing business ideas and pitching presentations. The format includes role-playing exercises, group discussions, and presentations to simulate the startup journey.

Course Structure

Students embark on a dynamic learning journey designed to ignite intellectual curiosity and foster deep understanding of the ever-evolving business landscape. Through a carefully curated blend of lectures, recitations, and reinforcement activities, students will progress seamlessly from fundamental concepts to intricate complexities.

Participants  engage in interactive games and quizzes to solidify grasp on key concepts, while lively case discussions and simulations challenge thinking and elevate cognitive prowess to new heights. Moreover, students will immerse themselves in a vibrant community of learners, where social interactions and mentorship opportunities abound.

At the heart of the program lies the invaluable experience of peer-learning within a supportive cohort structure, enabling students to glean insights and perspectives from fellow peers. Program Focus

In this program, the focus will be on four primary objectives:

  1. Business Acumen: Students will be introduced to the language of business and fundamental academic disciplines of Management. Modules will cover essential areas such as Marketing, Operations, Finance, Human Resources, Strategy & Execution, and Organizational Performance.

  2. Entrepreneurial mindset: Students will cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset, delving into topics including business models, pitch decks, innovation, financing, and scaling ventures.

  3. Leadership development: Through evidence-based theories, students will explore leadership and teamwork concepts. They will delve into the "people" side of management, covering areas such as Organizational culture, Effective leadership, Leadership assessment, and Strategic Congruence models.

  4. Career Readiness and Exploration: Students will embark on a guided self-reflection journey to explore and articulate their career interests, fostering college and career readiness.

Certificate of Completion

The University of Pennsylvania will award a certificate of competition to all students who successfully finish the program. To complete the Management Academy program, participants must actively engage in all scheduled sessions, both in-person and virtual. They should demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the core topics covered, including business acumen, entrepreneurship, leadership, and career exploration. Additionally, completion requires active participation in group discussions, collaborative activities, and peer-learning opportunities. Successful completion also entails presenting a final project that showcases their learning and demonstrates their ability to apply acquired knowledge to real-world scenarios. Overall, participants should exhibit growth in their skills, knowledge, and confidence as future business leaders and innovators.
